A friend of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) from his past arrives as part of a military task. Led by Eduardo Dorrance (Shane West) his goal is to provide relief to Gotham and the G.C.P.D, with the aim to take down the criminal elements of the city.

Elsewhere, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is concerned about Selina Kyle’s recent behaviour and tries to seek meaning and direction from both Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) and Harvey Bullock.

Meanwhile, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) looks for answers about his involvement in the R.P.G. attack on Haven and is given a shocking revelation. This leads him to his old friend Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) at City Hall, then on to the Sirens Club and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) and finally back to the laboratory of Hugo Strange (BD Wong). As the shocking and manipulating truth is revealed slowly and painfully through face fresheners, brain surgery and then a staple gun he is sent on a final mission by Eduardo to search and destroy Jim Gordon.

Back at Wayne Manor a ghoulish family reunion is in the offering as guess who’s back to cause some mischief!

Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) are forced to work together and alliances are shaken when Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), ED Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) all have different ideas of the culprit behind the destructive fireball at Haven. At first it’s thought to be Oswald, then Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) is singled out as he protests his innocence.

All the while Lucius has enlisted Ed Nygma to help him follow the evidence. However, Ed is also trying to follow the evidence of what he’s been up to as he tries to discover the meaning of the numbers #1215.

Meanwhile, Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) continues her quest for revenge against Jeremiah Valeska ( Cameron Monaghan) and manages to track him to the tunnels being dug out by the Soothsayer gang. As she infiltrates the new recruits brought to Jeremiah by Ecco (Francesca Root-Dodson) she gets close enough to take her chance and manages to stab him! But Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) are there to help her. Elsewhere, an old romance gets a new twist!.

Synopsis for Gotham Season 4 Episode 22 Review No Man’s Land Podcast

As the army comes in to take control of Gotham and the city continues to be evacuated, Jeremiah Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), back behind bars at the GCPD, warns a skeptical Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) of more bombs and destruction to come. Meanwhile, Jim is kidnapped by The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and narrowly escapes death after Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) convinces Ed Nygma to leave Gotham. But Ra’s Al Ghul’s (Alexander Siddig) plan swings into action as a bomb detonates killing the Mayor of Gotham and forcing Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) to leave a hospitalised Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) to confront Jeremiah at the G.C.P.D. But he in turn is kidnapped and taken to Ra’s where he is rescued by an unexpected team, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas), Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) who arrive, saving Bruce and killing Ra’s Al Ghul. As Bruce is saved Jeremiah’s bombs destroy every bridge out of Gotham, reducing the city to lawlessness. As the city is carved up between competing criminal gangs Penguin takes his revenge out on Tabitha Galavan for the death of his mother and we say goodbye to Butch Gilzean/Solomon Grundy (Drew Powell). Finally Bruce Wayne is forced to make a life changing decision and to come to terms with his future in a Gotham that is cut-off from the outside world.

As Gotham falls into complete anarchy, a group of unlikely disparate heroes step up to save the city, themselves and their loved ones from the maniacal plans of Jeremiah Valeska (Cameron Monaghan). With Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) presumed dead Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) takes the lead at the GCPD to evacuate Gotham and find the location of the bombs planted around the city. Elsewhere, in the Narrows, Jim begins to recuperate at the hands of Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) as she persuades The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) to solve Jeremiah’s puzzle and find the bombs locations. But in doing so Ed Nygma is caught off guard by Jim and so are his feelings for Lee. As Jim heads to the GCPD to help bring the chaos to an end Harvey steps up to disarm the bombs and save Gotham. Meanwhile, as Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) goes to save the kidnapped Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) from Jeremiah and the Scarecrow (David W. Thompson), his psychological limits are tested severely as those close to him are put in danger. But just as one bad day seemingly comes to an end with the help and friendship of Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), Jeremiah is approached by Ra’s Al Ghul (Alexander Siddig) to form an alliance and have other thoughts. Bruce’s bad day continues back at Wayne Manor and Selina is shot by Jeremiah. As Alfred subdues Jeremiah, Bruce frantically tries to keep Selina alive.

Nygma agrees to bring Cobblepot and Butch/Grundy (Drew Powell) along on his next robbery and kill Lee, but betrays them and plans to make Lee fall in love with him; the G.C.P.D. arrives, but Lee gives herself up and allows Nygma to escape. With the help of Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas), the renegade League faction uses the blood of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) to resurrect Ra’s al Ghul (Alexander Siddig), who disdains Barbara’s limited ambitions and tries to take back the power of the Demon’s Head. Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) fights Ra’s, but returns the power to him when he threatens Tabitha’s life. Barbara reconciles with Tabitha, while the female League members recognize her worth as a leader and continue to serve her. A downtown concert and the members of the Moral Authority of Gotham become the next target of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan. As he hijacks the concert Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) and Scarecrow (David W. Thompson) hijack a Wayne Enterprise’s chemical facility to bulk up their stocks of laughing gas to make their deadly toxin. Meanwhile, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) discovers her destiny, as her loyalties shift embracing her new associates but shunning Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas). With the Arkham inmates still running freely in Gotham they are only getting more difficult to catch for Jim Gordon and the G.C.P.D, but Jim is rewarded with inside information from an old friend. However, the tension escalates as Jerome demands the presence of his brother, Jeremiah Valaska (Cameron Monaghan) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and reluctantly Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) have to turn to Bruce for help. Meanwhile, Jervis Tetch and Scarecrow hijack a blimp to disperse Scarecrow’s concoction and Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) is revealed as an informer and is forced to ride the blimp with the hypnotized pilot. Back at the concert chaos ensues and the doom laden blimp appears on the horizon but just in time, Lucius Fox’s plan works and Jim is able to take down Jerome for good. With order seemingly restored Jeremiah returns to his home where an unexpected present threatens to change Gotham forever!

As the Legion of Horribles make their plans, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) try to stay one step ahead as Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) zeros in on his next target, a recluse structural engineer by the name of Xander Wilde. Not all of the Legion are bought into Jerome’s plan, however,as Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) struggles with the plan to “paint the town” he goes to see Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell) with a proposition to reclaim Gotham side-by-side and promises a cure for Grundy’s swampy condition to sweeten the deal. Jerome closes in on Xander’s proxy, who is his eyes and ears in Gotham, but he underestimates his prey as Jerome is captured and brought to Wilde’s underground concrete bunker-home. Meanwhile, The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) hosts a deadly riddle game at the Riddle Factory in the Narrows but Lee Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) intervenes to put a stop to his game show murder challenging the Riddler and beating him with a conundrum that stumps both Ed Nygma and the Riddler! In an underground home Xander Wilde is visited by Jim and Harvey who discover that Xander is in fact Jerome’s long-lost brother, Jeremiah Valaska (Cameron Monaghan), who was separated from his sadistic brother as a young child. As Scarecrow (David W. Thompson) and Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) rescue Jerome, Jeremiah is taken to a G.C.P.D. safe house, but back at the Legion’s headquarters Scarecrow uncovers and tests a smiley chemical compound that will give the City of Gotham that “one bad day” moment!

Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel), Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), Scarecrow (David W. Thompson) and the rest of the inmates in the asylum escape into Gotham. As Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) respond to the breakout Jervis give them a run for their money, hypnotizing hundreds of Gotham citizens to stand on rooftops. At the strike of twelve they fly. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), with help from Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), devises his own strategy to thwart Jerome and bring him back into custody. Bruce tracks him to his Uncle Zach Trumble’s (John Treacy Egan) diner, but his intervention allows Jerome to escape once again and this time with valuable information about an unknown person at the School of St Ignatius. As Gotham goes to rack and ruin Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) finally discovers her calling and the events of her resurrection at the hands of Ra’s Al Ghul (Alexander Siddig). She is the Demon’s Head and she will command the League of Shadows! As the hour nears midnight Jim realises Tetch’s deception as he has programmed his victims to jump as the clock strikes twelve or if they are told not to. But Jim manages to apprehend Tetch at W.Z.P.Z. radio station and finds a loophole saving the intended victims including Harvey Bullock. However, on his return journey to Arkham, Tetch is rescued by Scarecrow and Jerome as it is revealed that another slight of hand was deployed on Gotham by the evil trinity.

With her acquisition of the Narrows under her puppet Sampson (Stu ‘Large’ Riley), Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) begins to tighten her grip on the Gotham underworld but as as her fingers tighten around the prize so things begin to unravel as her enemies coalesce to destroy her. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) , Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) and Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) enlist an unlikely ally as they seek revenge and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) track down someone who is key in Sofia’s control over Gotham, Mr Penn (Andrew Sellon). Meanwhile, Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) asks Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) for a favor to help rid her of her guilt over Ivy and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) is suffering with migraines which start to take on familiar shape as she is taken over by the essence of Ra’s Al Ghul (Alexander Siddig). As Jim and Harvey bring Penn into protective custody, most likely from himself, Sophia, Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) and Wendell The Headhunter (Kyle Vincent Terry) arrive. In the resultant shootout Penn is taken to safety by Harvey, Zsasz and Wendell head for a milkshake and Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) aim is straight and true as casualties ensue!
