Gotham Season 2 UK Release date announced.

UPDATED: 28/12/2015

Channel 5 have officially announced the launch date of season 2 of Gotham in the UK and Ireland. The show will return on Monday the 11th of January at the later time slot of 10PM. This later slot on a Monday night takes the show out of a ratings battle with Walking Dead which airs at 9PM on rival channel Fox TV UK. Also included in the announcement was that all 22 episodes of the TV show will air with no breaks to the end of Season 2. You can hear our reviews of the first four episodes of Season 2 from episode one here Gotham Damned If You Do Podcast or subscribe on iTunes for the show at gothamtvpodcast.com/itunes

Channel 5 has also released a brand new creepy season 2 trailer for the show.

ORIGINAL STORY: In a surprising message on their Twitter and Facebook page Channel 5 have announced that the Gotham Season 2 UK release date has been moved from the originally announced Autumn 2015 slot to some time in 2016.

Gotham: The Rise of the Villains, as Season 2 of the successful TV show has been subtitled, launched in the United States on Fox and in Canada on CTV with overall positive reaction from fans of the show.

No reason for the unexpected move has been provided. Gotham Season 1 is currently showing on Netflix in the UK and Ireland and the show recently finished it’s run on RTÉ2 the national broadcaster in Ireland. It’s understood that Channel 5 own the exclusive broadcast rights for Gotham so UK Gothamites may have to wait a long time to catch up with their favourite characters.

We will update this story as soon as we know what this means for our coverage of the show.

In the meantime have a listen to our brand new interview with Drew Powell who plays Butch Gilzean on Gotham to keep going until we have some further news.

These personal developments leaves Bruce to request assistance from an old family friend – Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) – in an attempt to fix the computer and recover the missing information. However, at the same time the Maniax begin a murder spree across the city of Gotham as part of an elaborate scheme of Galavan’s that leads them ultimately to the G.C.P.D. where the Precinct is attacked in a sadistic bloody massacre. Whilst there are some who escape wounded in the attack, many other good officers, detectives and the Commissioner are killed. RIP Commissioner Sarah Essen(Zabryna Guevara) you will be sorely missed.

Synopsis for our Gotham Damned If You Do Podcast – Gotham Season 2 Episode 1.

After the gang warfare that embroiled the city Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) finds himself as the King of Gotham, whilst Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) finds himself down-and-out in Gotham after being fired by Commissioner Gillian Loeb (Peter Scolari). Still determined to undermine Loeb, Gordon’s moral compass waivers yet again as he makes another deal with Cobblepot who forces Loeb to re-instate Gordon as Detective, resign as Commissioner and ultimately be replaced by Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara) who now finds herself in charge of the G.C.P.D. Changes are also afoot in the underbelly of Gotham as a new criminal mastermind Theo Galavan (James Frain) and his sister and enforcer, Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) release the inmates of Arkham Asylum including Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) and Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) to wreak havoc across Gotham. Meanwhile at Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) embark down the secret staircase to discover a secret room. Here Bruce learns much more about his father, Thomas Wayne, who in a note left to Bruce advises him to leave well alone the mystery behind Gotham and to choose happiness over the truth…unless, of course, he feels his true calling!

Gotham TV Podcast will return with a special episode all about New York Comic Con including our interviews with the cast in attendance and we will also be reviewing Gotham S02 E02 Knock Knock this week. New York Comic Con 2015 Must See DC Events

We are delighted to be returning to New York city for the biggest comic and TV convention in the USA New York Comic Con 2015. The four day event runs from Thursday the 7th to Sunday the 10th of October in the Javits Convention Center. The annual event is in it’s 10th year this year and attracted over 150,000 attendees in 2014 over 20,000 more than San Diego Comic Con which caps it’s attendance at 130,000. There are many many events, signings, screenings, games and comic book announcements to keep those of us going to the event excited over the four days. Here’s are our New York Comic Con 2015 must see DC Events.

  1. WBTV Preview Night Screenings – Thursday the 8th October
Returning for a third year the WBTV screening event was host to the Constantine in 2014 and excellent pilot for a show that had an untimely end mid season. For the new season we will get to see the premiere of the new CBS TV show Supergirl starring Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks and Calista Flockhart in the big budget show from the creators of the Flash and Arrow. We’ve heard great things about the show so far so we’re excited to see the pilot. Also at the screening night will be a sneak peak at DC’s Legends of Tomorrow another spin-off of Arrow and Flash featuring both villains and heroes from those to shows as time-traveling crime fighters. The premise seems barmy so we’re looking forward to see how the less serious side of the DC universe will be on show when it premieres in 2016. Check out the trailers below.

  • DC Comics – The Dark Knight 30th Anniversary
    • To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Frank Millar’s seminal Batman Graphic Novel “The Dark Knight Returns”, Artist including Jim Lee and Brian Azzarello will join a panel of experts to discuss in detail their favourite parts of the book. We’re also certain they will discuss Frank Millar’s highly anticipated upcoming sequel Dark Knight Returns 3 – The Master Race.

Dark Knight Returns

  • Batman Fan Meet-up
    • Sure to be full of some of the best cos-players in the world with their best Batman, Harley Quinn and Joker costumes we’re hoping to see a new influx of Gotham cos-players at this years event.

  • Warner Bros. Television Takeover Featuring Gotham, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Blindspot, Supergirl and Person of Interest
    • Sunday is again Gotham day at NYCC as we hook up with all the other fans in the main hall to check out the GOTHAM Panel and screening. We’ll also get in line to meet the Gotham cast at the signing event; and Gotham TV Podcast will bring you some exclusive interviews with Ben McKenzie, Corey Michael Smith, Robin Lord Taylor, James Frain and others from the Gotham cast interviews at the Javits Center.
    • There will also be a huge host of other Warner Bros. and DC inspired screenings and panels at at the Super Sunday event with another chance to see the Supergirl and DC Legends of Tomorrow previews.

gotham_header_h_2015

  • And finally as always there will be surprises
    • New York Comic Con is always known for it’s surprises. In 2014 George Clooney showed up at the Tomorrowland panel while on his honeymoon to give an apology to Batman fans for “killing the franchise”. There are rumours that there will be a special sneak peek at the upcoming Batman V Superman at this years event thanks to a comment by a leading Warner Brothers executive. Only time will tell but watch this space.

We’re looking forward to seeing all the attendees there but we will be podcasting after the event to discuss everything we saw there and hopefully some exclusive information that you’ll enjoy as much as we will.

We’ll talk to you soon, but in the meantime check out our Gotham Season two interview with Drew Powell, Gotham’s Butch Gilzean.

GTVP E50 Gotham Interview Drew Powell

We are delighted to have one of our favourite actors to discuss his thoughts in season one, portraying a character specifically created for the TV show, how he prepared for THAT dance, working with Jada Pinkett-Smith and playing the part of the easy to like tough guy for the show.

Butch Gilzean DancingWe obviously want to thank Mr. Powell for his time but we really want to thank you, the listeners, for joining us during the course of our coverage leading up to the launch of Gotham, our reviews of Season one and hopefully you’ll stay with us as we return with our coverage of Gotham: Rise of the Villains when Season 2 returns in the UK and Ireland in just a few weeks time.
