A downtown concert and the members of the Moral Authority of Gotham become the next target of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan. As he hijacks the concert Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) and Scarecrow (David W. Thompson) hijack a Wayne Enterprise’s chemical facility to bulk up their stocks of laughing gas to make their deadly toxin. Meanwhile, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) discovers her destiny, as her loyalties shift embracing her new associates but shunning Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas). With the Arkham inmates still running freely in Gotham they are only getting more difficult to catch for Jim Gordon and the G.C.P.D, but Jim is rewarded with inside information from an old friend. However, the tension escalates as Jerome demands the presence of his brother, Jeremiah Valaska (Cameron Monaghan) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and reluctantly Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) have to turn to Bruce for help. Meanwhile, Jervis Tetch and Scarecrow hijack a blimp to disperse Scarecrow’s concoction and Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) is revealed as an informer and is forced to ride the blimp with the hypnotized pilot. Back at the concert chaos ensues and the doom laden blimp appears on the horizon but just in time, Lucius Fox’s plan works and Jim is able to take down Jerome for good. With order seemingly restored Jeremiah returns to his home where an unexpected present threatens to change Gotham forever!

As the Legion of Horribles make their plans, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) try to stay one step ahead as Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) zeros in on his next target, a recluse structural engineer by the name of Xander Wilde. Not all of the Legion are bought into Jerome’s plan, however,as Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) struggles with the plan to “paint the town” he goes to see Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell) with a proposition to reclaim Gotham side-by-side and promises a cure for Grundy’s swampy condition to sweeten the deal. Jerome closes in on Xander’s proxy, who is his eyes and ears in Gotham, but he underestimates his prey as Jerome is captured and brought to Wilde’s underground concrete bunker-home. Meanwhile, The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) hosts a deadly riddle game at the Riddle Factory in the Narrows but Lee Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) intervenes to put a stop to his game show murder challenging the Riddler and beating him with a conundrum that stumps both Ed Nygma and the Riddler! In an underground home Xander Wilde is visited by Jim and Harvey who discover that Xander is in fact Jerome’s long-lost brother, Jeremiah Valaska (Cameron Monaghan), who was separated from his sadistic brother as a young child. As Scarecrow (David W. Thompson) and Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) rescue Jerome, Jeremiah is taken to a G.C.P.D. safe house, but back at the Legion’s headquarters Scarecrow uncovers and tests a smiley chemical compound that will give the City of Gotham that “one bad day” moment!

Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel), Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), Scarecrow (David W. Thompson) and the rest of the inmates in the asylum escape into Gotham. As Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) respond to the breakout Jervis give them a run for their money, hypnotizing hundreds of Gotham citizens to stand on rooftops. At the strike of twelve they fly. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), with help from Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), devises his own strategy to thwart Jerome and bring him back into custody. Bruce tracks him to his Uncle Zach Trumble’s (John Treacy Egan) diner, but his intervention allows Jerome to escape once again and this time with valuable information about an unknown person at the School of St Ignatius. As Gotham goes to rack and ruin Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) finally discovers her calling and the events of her resurrection at the hands of Ra’s Al Ghul (Alexander Siddig). She is the Demon’s Head and she will command the League of Shadows! As the hour nears midnight Jim realises Tetch’s deception as he has programmed his victims to jump as the clock strikes twelve or if they are told not to. But Jim manages to apprehend Tetch at W.Z.P.Z. radio station and finds a loophole saving the intended victims including Harvey Bullock. However, on his return journey to Arkham, Tetch is rescued by Scarecrow and Jerome as it is revealed that another slight of hand was deployed on Gotham by the evil trinity.

With her acquisition of the Narrows under her puppet Sampson (Stu ‘Large’ Riley), Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) begins to tighten her grip on the Gotham underworld but as as her fingers tighten around the prize so things begin to unravel as her enemies coalesce to destroy her. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) , Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) and Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) enlist an unlikely ally as they seek revenge and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) track down someone who is key in Sofia’s control over Gotham, Mr Penn (Andrew Sellon). Meanwhile, Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) asks Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) for a favor to help rid her of her guilt over Ivy and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) is suffering with migraines which start to take on familiar shape as she is taken over by the essence of Ra’s Al Ghul (Alexander Siddig). As Jim and Harvey bring Penn into protective custody, most likely from himself, Sophia, Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) and Wendell The Headhunter (Kyle Vincent Terry) arrive. In the resultant shootout Penn is taken to safety by Harvey, Zsasz and Wendell head for a milkshake and Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) aim is straight and true as casualties ensue!

As the day turns to night, Ivy, Bruce, Alfred and Jim converge on the annual wayne Foundation dinner where Ivy intends to kill all the guests. In the Narrows, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) struggles with the return of the Riddler into his consciousness and tries to rid him once-and-for-all from his mind as he voluntarily returns to Arkham Asylum, but is in for a shock as The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and The Riddler reunite. The Narrows experience a regime change as Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) forcibly takes control of the district from her sister-in-law Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). In the aftermath of the Wayne Foundation fiasco, Bruce rediscovers his inner vigilante and Alfred returns to Wayne Manor with him; Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) takes matters into her own hands forever finding an enemy in Ivy; and with Lee thrown onto the streets and Sophia in ascendancy, Jim turns to Harvey for help to end Sofia’s reign in Gotham.

Ivy Pepper (Peyton List) and Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) team up! But whilst Selina wants to steal from the rich Ivy’s purpose is driven by revenge for the suffering of her dear plants. As she targets scientists at Wayne Enterprises involved in a secret project called Project M,  Selina soon taps out of her team up as Ivy kills her targets to learn the truth of Project M. Her next target is Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), where she obtains the location of the secret project and leaves Bruce hallucinating on the floor. As he begins to succumb to Ivy’s poison his hallucinations become deeper and more disturbing as a dark and solitary figure infiltrates his mind showing Bruce his true inner self and a winged demon – Bats. Meanwhile Ivy finds the secret to Project M, the Lazarus waters, and as she escapes from  Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), she plans to use her new potion to weaponize her darling buds of May. Elsewhere Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) becomes obsessed with Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) as he seeks to recruit him to his creme de crazy as he tells all about his plans for Gotham. As Ivy’s poison brings Bruce close to death he is saved by Jim who gives Bruce the antidote. As he lifts from his hallucinations Bruce knows who he is, what he is and what he must become in the city of Gotham.

The continuing violent feud between Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) rages on but the arrival of Carmine Falcone (John Doman) to Gotham at the request of Oswald, complicates the picture. His death at the hands of gunmen linked to Oswald sends Gotham into turmoil. Despite the chaos the wealthy in Gotham continue to party and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is on a bender. His antics in and out of the bedroom put increasing distance and friction between him and Alfred . Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertweetries to get through to Bruce once and for all, but events escalate and Bruce fires Alfred and terminates his guardianship over him by legal order. In the Narrows, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) struggles to gain control over the Riddler persona, and Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) attempts to make Grundy remember his past one bat to the head at a time. As war descends on Gotham in the void of Falcone’s murder, a determined Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), backed by the G.C.P.D. seeks to end the gang stranglehold in the City. First he dismantles Oswald’s forces, arresting him for the death of Martin. Jim then turns his attention on Sophia but a series of secrets, lies and revelations of her actions brings into focus the stark choices that Jim must make as Captain of the GCPD. As the extent of Sophia’s manipulation is laid bare Bullocks prophetic words ring out “This is about the choices you made! This is all on you!”. But all is not tears and sadness in Gotham as a familiar smile and a distinctive chuckle resurfaces in Gotham.

As Harvey Bullock (Donal Loguepacks up his office the former solid partnership crumbles as betrayal and tension hangs heavy between the two detectives. Elsewhere in an abandoned paper mill Professor Pyg (Michael Cerveris) continues to torment Gotham City and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), as his new culinary activities intends to send a message to the elite of Gotham. The Wayne annual camping tradition, where they leave a stone at the Cairn on Mount Bristol, is not a happy affair. Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertweetries to support Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) through the day, as he continues to be haunted by his murder of Ra’s Al Ghul, but a petulant and dismissive Bruce shuns Alfred’s help for a party in Wayne Manor that leaves a bitter after taste between Bruce and Alfred. Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) gets ready for a fundraiser on behalf of the orphanage, but as Penguin’s (Robin Lord Taylor) suspicions of her continue to grow he entrusts a young agent, Martine (Christopher Convery) to keep a silent but watchful eye on her. As the fundraiser kicks off things don’t go as planned when Professor Pyg shows up as the chef to force a tasty treat on the power brokers of Gotham. “Vive la revolution!” As he holds them to account Jim thwarts his plan and the Pyg is captured. However, as the dust settles on events a Penguin’s spy reports a new piece of information to Oswald that will have ramifications for Jim and Sophia.

Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) is using his show with Solomon Grundy (Drew Powell) to poke fun at Penguin. When he gets wind of this slight Oswald sends Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas), Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) and Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) to retrieve Ed and Firefly (Camila Perez) to kill them if they fail. When Tabitha lays eyes on Grundy she recognises her former lover and tries to bring Grundy back. Ed uses Grundy in a winner takes all fight between him and Tabitha to try to stop the Sirens from taking him back to Oswald. When it looks like they have failed in their mission Firefly tries to make them pay but Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) intervenes and saves them all. After Barbara discovers that club owner Cherry (Marina Benedict) sold Ed out and the people from the Narrows hate Penguin she signs her resignation letter with a bullet leaving Leslie with the keys to the club. Meanwhile Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is also rising in the ranks as the mayor offers him the role a Captain if he takes over from Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue). After much deliberation Jim signs the letter of promotion from the Mayor as he relieves Harvey of his position and in doing so his friendship with Harvey heads for troubled waters. Elsewhere, after a bad night at the crime office, the penny drops for Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) as he begins to understand that friendship has once again blindsided him
