Gotham 509 Review “The Trial of Jim Gordon” Synopsis

Directed by: Erin Richards

Written by: Ben McKenzie

Attempting to establish a ceasefire as supplies in Gotham become critical, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is shot. Rushed to the G.C.P.D, Lee Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) operates on him to stem his blood loss, but Jim passes out and begins to hallucinate. His dream like state soon turns into a nightmare as Jim Gordon’s life, decisions and failures are put on trial all while he bleeds out.

Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) discovers that a lovesick Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) was the perpetrator who shot Jim Gordon while under the influence of Poison Ivy (Peyton List). Ivy’s roots extend beyond killing Jim as she also places her spell on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) to target the drinking water supplies all in an attempt to prevent the reunification with the mainland and to rebuild Gotham with her plants.

Meanwhile, as Barbara (Erin Richards) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) consider their next moves, Lee has a life-changing moment as she saves Jim from another attempt on his life by Ivy. As Jim awakes from his hallucination and recovers from his wounds he makes the decision to live for Lee and his unborn child.

After one month passes, James Gordon and Leslie Thompkins are finally married by Harvey Bullock in the G.C.P.D. Precinct…and everyone lives happily ever after…but this is Gotham and as the two love-birds wed, Barbara secretly makes an important decision about her child.
